The Courtauld Institute of Art is one of the world’s most prestigious centres for the study of art history. This year’s online Study Tours - replacing their usual in-person short study tours to various locations in Europe and sometimes further afield - will bring some comfort to those of you itching to travel. This year’s offer includes the Russian Avant-Garde in Paris, Fin-de-Siècle Brussels, Renaissance Mantua, and a tour of Aleppo and Damascus. At £145 for an intensive 3-day course, they are good value (even if you won’t get to sample the local wines). The Institute also offers 16 week-long Summer School courses for non-specialists, many on pre-20th century art including “Fantasies Reframed: Orientalism and its Contexts”, “Looted Art: An Introduction to Nazi Spoliation, Provenance Research and Restitution”, and “Van Eyck at the Burgundian Court”. Each Summer School course costs £395.
