2-day calligraphy and abstraction masterclass

This masterclass is an introduction to the world of calligraphy and the influences it had on the art of abstraction. It is run in conjunction with the Louvre Abu Dhabi’s current Abstraction and Calligraphy exhibition.

Over two Saturdays, you will study calligraphic artworks, finding out the stories behind them and the masterful skill and techniques needed to create them. Then, you will try creating some calligraphy of your own, using traditional tools and methods and later experiment with abstracting calligraphic motifs. This will put your understanding of the subject into practice, for a greater appreciation of this intricate art form.
