SMARTHISTORY

Smarthistory is the Khan Academy’s art history portal. Aimed primarily at high school students, teachers, and university students and lecturers, it provides a wide range of resources on art around the world from the prehistoric period to the contemporary. These resources, consisting mainly of videos and essays, are contributed by a collaborative team of more than five hundred art historians, curators, archaeologists, and artists who contribute because they believe that high-quality art history should be available to everyone.

THE PRACTICE OF DRAWING

The Practice of Drawing was produced by the Colnaghi Foundation as an introduction to drawing in the Western European tradition aimed at the general public and schools. Four sections - Medieval, Renaissance, 1600-1900 and Modern, include subsections about different aspects of drawing in each period, with short videos, texts and many of the most important drawings produced in this tradition. The site also includes a Learn More section with information about materials and techniques used in drawing and links to more specialist books and websites.
