Donatello: Sculpting the Renaissance is the first major UK exhibition to explore the exceptional talents of this master, arguably the greatest sculptor of all time. This is the last leg of its three-country tour which opened in Florence last summer, which set out to cast a fresh eye on the artist and on his influence on subsequent generations. Show stoppers include a painted cast of his iconic David, his young John the Baptist - produced with Desiderio da Settignano and so lively it is hard to believe it is carved from marble - and his beautiful Pazzi Madonna, one of the reliefs for which he became immediately famous.

The website includes Inside the Donatello: Sculpting the Renaissance exhibition, presenting some of the highlights, a feature on Donatello – a master at work, looking at how the sculptor used materials, and Explore Donatello's masterpiece: 'The Ascension', with a zoomable image of the finest surviving example of Donatello's highly-skilled 'rilievo schiacciato' (squashed relief) technique.
