Holbein: Capturing Character is the first major exhibition dedicated to Hans Holbein (1497/98-1543) in the United States. The artist was among the most skilled, versatile and inventive artists of the early 1500s, famous for his portraits of statesmen, prelates and aristocrates including King Henry VIII of England and Erasmus of Rotterdam. Spanning Holbein’s entire career, it starts with his early years in Basil, his stay in England from 1526-1528. The exhibition website includes a virtual tour and links to virtual talks.
