Iron Men: Fashion in Steel

Iron Men – Fashion in Steel takes a fresh look at what life was really like for knights in shining armour. The stereotypical portayal of blundering warriors immobilised by heavy armour only appeared in the 19th century but continues to shape the portayal of these figures in films and TV series like Game of Thrones. As the exhibition shows us, Renaissance armour was infact designed to be light and flexible, and it’s high time to revise our misconceptions.
